Architects Sergei Tchoban and Sergei Kuznestsov of Speech techoban/kuznetsov, have designed the Russian pavillion for the 2012 venice biennale. I-City is a space covered in QR codes which hide information regarding architecture and technology about a new city project called Skolkovo.

Visitors are given a tablet which de-codes thes QR tiles, giving information about the project. All you need to do is point and tap on the tablet and you get a mini presentation of the specific code.

These tiles make a beautiful interior texture that covers the walls, ceilings and floors, and although at first it just seems decorative, the information hidden within these tiles, gives this pavillion meaning and an opportunity for the visitors to interact with it.

Although it is meant to promote the Skolkovo project, its fair to say that I-city is in itself a possible preview of future architecture, where the walls not only have ears, but also mouths!
