A short distance from the city center of Gothenburg in Sweden is the area of Lindholmen, once the heart of the shipbuilding industry but now an up and coming region for innovation in the fields of science and technology. It is here that the newly opened Radisson Blu Riverside stands, a design project by the practice of Doos Architects. Following a design concept of urban eclectic, the highly original space reflects the heritage of the region both of the past and the present.

This new generation of business hotels aims to provide the jaded international traveller with something new, a destination which reflects the identity of its location. This is achieved by the excitingly interesting interior of the space in contrasting elements of color, materials and textures. Wood, iron and copper set the tone, matt and glossy surfaces, dark and light tones and warm and cold hues all work together to create a highly unique space.

From the public areas in the ground floor lobby, it is easy to see that the stunning waterside vistas play a vital role in the vibe of the hotel, the unequalled views of Gothenburg harbor are clearly visible through the extensive transparencies of the in-house restaurant, Cuckoo’s Nest. With 265 rooms, 10 suites and a conference area, the hotel is fully equipped to enhance the lives of the international businessman. Each room in individually designed, a fascinating combination of high tech and retro brought together within a common design aesthetic through one of 6 large light hearted illustrations by Doos, reflecting the geography and the history of Lindholmen.

On the upper level an ultra-sophisticated spa facility has been created for the Body Lab Wellness center, a welcome addition to be enjoyed by the guests. The entire establishment is an excellent design project resulting in a warm friendly environment which differs greatly from the average hotel catering for this sector of the public. At the Radisson Blu Riverside the guest will not only feel at home but be aware of the heritage of the location and be just a short ferry ride from the city of Gothenburg.
